I described what had happened in our hometown. I told Ito about the way the Sugar Company had forced us to sell our land. After listening very carefully to what I told him, his face flushed red and he excitedly said, "Fine. All right. We need to join our hands for this struggle. Those who cause your misery are the same people what cause our misery. They are our common enemy."

     Three days after I met Ito, he introduced me to someone who gave me a job in a toy factory in Asakusa. I finally had a steady job. From then on, whenever I had time, I went to visit Ito and asked him questions about my problems. He
